TNPSC Exams 2018 – Tamilnadu Government announced notification for the post of Civil Judge – 320 vacancies for Freshers/Experienced candidates.The detailed eligibility and application process are given below.

TNPSC Exams Detailed Eligibility:
For Practising Advocates/Pleaders and Assistant Public Prosecutors:
- Must possess a Degree in Law of a University in India established or incorporated by or under a Central Act or a State Act or an Institution recognised by the University Grants Commission, or any other equivalent qualification and enrolled in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu or in the Bar Council of any other State in India
and - Must be practising as an Advocate or Pleader in any Court on the date of Notification for recruitment to the post and must have so practised for a period of not less than 3 years on such date. (or)
- Must be an Assistant Public Prosecutor having not less than 3 years of experience as an Advocate and/or Assistant Public Prosecutor.
For Fresh Law Graduates:
- Must be a fresh Law Graduate possessing a degree in Law from a recognized University.
- Must be eligible to be enrolled as an advocate.
- Must have secured an overall percentage of marks in acquiring the Bachelor’s Degree of Law as below:-
(a) 45% Marks in case of Reserved Categories (i.e SCs,SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs (OBCMs) and BCMs).
(b) 50% Marks in case of Open Category (i.e Others). - Must have obtained the Bachelor’s Degree of Law within a period of three years prior to the date of notification.
Knowledge in Tamil: Must have proficiency in Tamil to read, write and speak.
TNPSC Exams – Age limit(As on 01.07.2018):
For Practising Advocates/ Pleaders & Asst Public Prosecutors:
- SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all Castes: 25 to 40 years
- ‘Others’: 25 to 35 Years
For Fresh Law Graduates:
- For all Categories: 22 to 27 years
TNPSC Exams Selection process:
- The selection will be made in three successive stages viz., (i) Preliminary Examination for selection of applicants for admission to the Main Examination, (ii) Main Examination and (iii) Viva–Voce Test.
Preliminary Examination:
- The preliminary examination will consist of one paper of objective type based on the syllabus given below containing 100 multiple choice questions (both in Tamil and English), each carrying one mark.
- Maximum marks will be 100 and ‘1/2’ (half) mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- The duration of the Preliminary examination will be two hours.
Scheme of Main Examination:
- Descriptive Type – 3 hours duration for each paper.
- The question papers on Law Papers I, II and III will be set both in Tamil and in English. The candidates are given the option of answering the papers either in Tamil or in English.
- The appearance in all the papers in the Main Written Examination and for the Viva Voce Test is compulsory.

Examination Centre(Preliminary Exam): Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Salem, Thanjavur, Vellore, Villupuram.
Examination Centre(Main Exam): Chennai Only.
